Top Tips for Choosing your Bridesmaid's Dresses

Updated: Oct 12, 2019

Here are our top tips for making the most important women feel gorgeous and confident on your wedding day. When choosing the dresses for your bridal party it is important to consider the time of year you plan to have your wedding as well as the theme you have chosen. The combination of these will determine both the style and the colour palette you should choose for your bridesmaid’s dresses.

Colour

The designers at Vogue have created a list of the top ten colours that work extremely well in the Winter and Autumn months. These colours vary from the traditional deep and dark winter colours such as navy blue and dark purple and will allow you to step away from the ordinary and experiment with new and exciting colour palettes.

Among Vogue’s list are marble grey and silver which are considered to be the “new black”. These colours are great for conveying a sense of sophistication and style among your bridal party.

If you are looking to be slightly more conservative and are wanting to stick with the warm colour palette for winter, try a whisky brown coloured dress. This colour is still within the winter colour palette but brings along with it a new twist on your typical brown.

Spring and summer are a fantastic opportunity to play around with pastel colours. These light-coloured dresses convey softness, femininity and romance. The classic pastel will never go out of style and is sure to be a winner with all of your bridesmaids. Length of Dress

The theme of your wedding will have a very significant impact on the length of your bridesmaid’s dresses. If you are planning a cocktail event for your big day, consider a short dress for your bridesmaids. Similarly, if your wedding will be a more formal affair look towards a floor-length evening gown for your girls.

For the more unconventional brides, maybe consider having your bridesmaids in dresses of different lengths. This will allow your bridal party to feel more unique and personalised and will also make them comfortable for your big day.

Mismatched Dresses

One of the biggest trends we are currently seeing for the bridal party is the mismatched dresses. This trend looks stunning when done right. Our biggest tip for pulling off this trend is don’t vary too many of the features, only change one or two features of the dress.
